Board-certified in rheumatology, he founded his own medical practice, Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates PLLC, in Sugar Land, Texas, in 2005, where he continues to serve as the chief executive officer and lead rheumatologist. Prior to beginning his own business, Dr. Hernandez proudly served as an assistant clinical professor at the Baylor College of Medicine for four years. Dr. Hernandez began his pursuit of higher education at Angelo State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1991. He subsequently continued his studies at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and achieved an MD in 1996. In addition to his academic credentials, he completed a residency in internal medicine and a double fellowship in rheumatology, allergy and immunology at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Adjacent to his primary endeavors in his field, Dr. Hernandez also remains active as a civic-minded citizen in his community. To this end, he participates as a sponsor for elementary school children as part of the Africa New Life Ministries, an organization with which he has also engaged in mission trips. Well-regarded for his accomplishments, Dr. Hernandez was previously honored with a GlaxoSmithKline Award in 2001. Dr. Hernandez chose to pursue his practice in the field of rheumatology in light of the unique challenges the branch of medicine could provide. In accounting for his achievements, he has largely attributed his success to his dedication to perfecting his talents. In the coming years, he looks forward to further expanding his practice and providing the highest quality services possible to his patients.
