246 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Susan Hershberg Adelman has cultivated a career of excellence in the fields of medicine and artistry. From 1971 to 2002, she was in private practice in Michigan as a pediatric surgeon. After retiring from surgery, she turned to working as an author and silversmith. She has been the owner of Hershberg Jewelry since 2003. Of her three books, the most recent was “From Jerusalem to Delhi, Through Persia” in 2022. Dr. Adelman was editor of Detroit Medical News from 1981 to 1998. Her MD was from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1967, and she is licensed in Michigan. She was the first woman president of the Wayne County Medical Society, Detroit Medical Academy, the Michigan State Medical Society and Organization of State Medical Association Presidents, as well as past member of the AMA Board of Trustees. She represented AMA on the Professional Review Committee for the Clinton Health Care Reform project. Among her many accolades, she was named in Top Docs in the Tri-County Area by Detroit Monthly in 1993 and 1995. In 2023, she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Wayne County Medical Society for her work on the editorial board of Detroit Medical News. She attributes her success to her education and the support of her husband. PEDIATRIC SURGEON (RETIRED), ARTIST, AUTHOR Southfield, MI Gertrude Teni Atongi boasts more than 30 years of professional experience in the health care industry. Since 2019, she has served as a home visiting program manager in Brooklyn, New York. Specializing in program management and leadership, she originally joined the care center in 2016 as a family support worker supervisor. Beginning her career in 1993, Ms. Atongi has worked with such organizations as the Brooklyn AIDS Task Force, the Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA), and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Furthermore, she is the founder of the Atongi Family and Friends Basic Needs Foundation, which provides critical care and aid to underserved communities worldwide. Ms. Atongi holds an MSW from Adelphi University and a master’s degree in nursing from the ICT Academy. Furthermore, she holds pertinent certifications in such areas as counseling and parent health management training. Ms. Atongi was honored by JCCA with an Outstanding Service Award and by her program manager with a Generosity Award. In October 2023, she received a Humanitarian Award from 3G Media Group and endorsement as an infant family reflective supervisor by the New York State Association for Infant Mental Health.
