Specializing in workplace risk management, he has operated as an advisory industrial hygienist for Western Digital Corporation since 2012. He has held similar positions with companies such as Hitachi Ltd. from 2003 to 2012, the IBM Almaden Research Center from 1989 to 2003, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals from 1985 to 1989. Mr. Hemperly originally began his career in 1977, working as an industrial hygienist for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the United States Department of Labor until 1982. Having pursued a formal education, Mr. Hemperly holds a BA in biology from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971 and an MS in environmental health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1976. Holbrook has excelled in the fields of health care and military service. In 2019, he took on the role of Associate Director of contracting for UnitedHealth Group, where he specializes in physician contracting for Medicare and other retirement plans. He originally joined the organization in 2008. Additionally, Mr. Holbrook has honorably served in the United States Army since 2002, originally serving in the Army Reserve and recently rising to the position of deputy commander of the 206th RSG in 2021. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Holbrook previously earned a BS in biology at Cumberland College in 2002 and an executive master’s degree in business administration at Sullivan University in 2010. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in strategic studies at the U.S. Army War College. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, he has been honored with several Army Commendation Medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. Attributing much of his success to his tenacity and willingness to tackle new challenges, Mr. Holbrook hopes to work at a directorial level with UnitedHealth Group in the coming years.
