ROUBIN, MD, PHD Bolstered by several decades of professional experience, Dr. Gary S. Roubin is a leader in the field of medicine. He currently thrives as the director of Excision Medical, Inc., and InspireMD Inc., where he specializes as an interventional cardiology and vascular consultant and a cardiac and vascular interventional device developer. Prior to his current position, Dr. Roubin co-founded Essential Medical Inc., and served as a faculty member at several universities, including the Emory University School of Medicine and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Roubin cultivated a formal education, earning an MD at the University of Queensland in 1975 and a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at Sydney University Hospital in 1983. He has further authored several books during his tenure in the field, including a medical memoir, “The First Balloon-Expandable Coronary Stent: An Expedition That Changed Cardiovascular Medicine,” in 2015. Well-regarded for his myriad of achievements, Dr. Roubin has been honored with numerous accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy in 2018. Rosalie Espino Savella is a board-certified nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She attained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Manila Central University and a health care management certification from Loyola University. For over 30 years, she has worked in hospital departments and gained expertise and various certifications. She is a trauma nurse specialist and a critical care registered nurse. Her range of experience went from bedside nursing to a leadership role. She currently serves as a primary care provider in a family and urgent care clinic. Ms. Savella has gained numerous awards for her ingenuity and genuine passion for serving. As many faltered to serve as health care worker amid the COVID-19 pandemic, she persevered and endured the challenge of working in the emergency room while studying to become a nurse practitioner at United States University. As valedictorian of her class, she stood to encourage her fellow graduates to “stand firm, for the world needs us.” She says, “Our lives, education and professions are given for a purpose; may we all be blessed to fulfill that purpose.” She comes from humble beginnings and serves as a mentor and inspiration.
