Glenn has cultivated a career of excellence as a professional athlete and sports analyst. From 1977 to 1987, he was a professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association, lending his talents to such teams as the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks. After retiring from playing, he committed himself to sports analytics, working with major television networks, including CNN, Fox Sports, TNT and ESPN. Mr. Glenn also previously served as the commissioner of the World Basketball Association. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Glenn established the first major basketball camp for deaf athletes in the United States in 1980. Additionally, in 1982, he founded the Mike Glenn Foundation, which serves as a charitable extension of his camp. He also notably played himself in the 2013 feature-length film, “The Spirit of Love: The Mike Glenn Story,” which received numerous accolades, including Bets Inspirational Movie of the Year from the ICM Country Music Association. Mr. Glenn attributes much of his success to his parents, who guided him and served as a constant source of inspiration. In 2022, he became the head chef and owner of Harvey’s, a familyowned restaurant located in Falls Church, Virginia. Offering a variety of specialty dishes at all hours of the day, the restaurant’s passion and mission are defined in its tagline, “The Home of Good Food and Friends.” As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Harvey studied at L’Academie de Cuisine in Maryland, where he earned an associate degree in culinary arts in 2012. Well-regarded for his dedication to excellent hospitality and food services, he was previously named the Best Chef in Loudoun County, Virginia, and Harvey’s was named the Best New Restaurant and Best New Business in the City in 2022. In accounting for his many accomplishments, Mr. Harvey attributes his success to his ability to understand and work well with others. In the coming years, he hopes to open more restaurants and work with schools in his community so he can assist future generations of culinary artists.
