Specializing in biotechnology, he has served as a founding member and principal of Norse Biotech AS since 2017, where he and his colleagues cultivate new innovations in chemistry, engineering, biology, process design and business development. Headquartered in Hamar, Norway, the company is well-regarded for its successful premier product, Betulin, which is derived from the chemical compound of the same name that comes from the bark of birch trees. Adjacent to his primary duties, Dr. Chrisman has also served as the principal of Chrisman Consulting, his own private consulting firm, since 2012. As part of his secondary business endeavors, he pursues fruitful business developments in the field of biotechnology. Dr. Chrisman has recently begun working alongside the Iowa Corn Promotion Board, with which he aims to employ new products and process development tactics in corn, biomass, and MK optimization and control. Dr. Chrisman originally began his career in 1977, holding various positions at the Dow Chemical Company until 2004. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, he pursued a formal education, beginning at Manchester College (now Manchester University), where he earned a BS in chemistry in 1969. He subsequently continued his studies at Purdue University and achieved a PhD in inorganic chemistry in 1976. In his other scholarly ventures, Dr. Chrisman has contributed a plethora of articles to professional journals pertaining to his work in the field. Furthermore, he co-organized the Rome Meetings at the University of Washington. Well-regarded for his accomplishments, he has been honored with several accolades over the course of his career, including a Distinguished Science Alumnus Award from Purdue University in 2006.
