Following her retirement from military service, Dr. Habina continued her pursuits in public safety, serving as a police officer in San Antonio, Texas, from 1995 to 2018. Now retired from full-time work, she also briefly worked as a commissioned admiral for the Texas Navy in 2022. Dr. Habina has also remained affiliated with several industry-related organizations. To this end, she is the national president of Women in the Air Force and the Women’s Overseas Service League, and she is a member of the American Military Retirees Association. In addition to her primary vocational interests, Dr. Habina previously served as a substitute teacher in her community for 15 years. Furthermore, she was an adjunct professor for several years, working with such institutions as San Antonio College, the University of Maryland and an academic institution in Turkey. As part of her vocational journey, Dr. Habina pursued her own higher education, beginning with her time at the University of Maryland, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977. She subsequently continued her studies at Central Michigan University and received a master’s degree in 1978. Later concluding her academic career at Centenary University, Dr. Habina achieved a PhD in business management in 1985. In her retirement, Dr. Habina has continued to participate as a civic-minded citizen with organizations such as the Air and Space Forces Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and local cancer support groups. Well-regarded for her devoted service, she has been honored with numerous accolades over the course of her career, including several Air Force Achievement Medals, Air Force Commendation Medals and Meritorious Service Medals. With several decades of professional experience to her credit, Dr. Joyce Sean Habina has cultivated a career of excellence across several professional endeavors.
