He was also an adjunct professor at the ITT Institute from 2007 to 2013 and an instructor at DeVry University from 2003 to 2007. As part of his continued dedication to educating others, he has been a dragon dance coach at the International Christian Church of Tacoma since 2011. Well-regarded for his engineering expertise, Mr. Hsu began his career in 1984, working as a hardware engineer for the Boeing Company in Seattle. He then served Honeywell in Albuquerque in 1988 as an avionics engineer. He moved back to Seattle in 1994 for Heart Interface in Kent as an embedded engineer, working on power inverters. In 1996, he served Applied Precision in Issaquah as an electrical engineer. Mr. Hsu worked one year as a contractor with Microsoft in Redmond as a test engineer in 1998. Thereafter, in 1999, he started working as a senior software engineer for Avocent Corporation until 2003. A longtime admirer and practitioner of Chinese martial arts, Mr. Hsu owned the Institute of Martial Arts from 2003 to 2011. Before embarking on his vocational journey, he attended Southern Illinois University, where he earned a BSEE in 1980 and an MSEE in 1982. Though he originally sought to work in the field of engineering, Mr. Hsu found that he naturally excelled as an educator after completing a test lecture at a local school. With his father also having previously worked as an engineering professor, it seemed only fitting that he would follow a similar path. In accounting for his accomplishments, he is especially proud to have had a positive impact on the many students he taught over the course of his career. As part of his retirement, he hopes to travel more and continue supporting children in their educational goals. Accruing 38 years of experience, Chi Che “Franklin” Hsu is an expert in the field of electronic engineering and education, with 19 years in engineering and 19 years as an educator.
