208 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Akinkuoye maintains membership with the Massachusetts Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, Sleep Research Society, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Mental Health Counselors Association and Association of the Scientific Study of Consciousness, among many others. He also remains active as a music composer, having created numerous compositions pertaining to real-world events and his own personal experiences. Additionally, he volunteers within his community at local churches and with Rotary International. Dr. Akinkuoye was honored with the Emergency Medical Responder Preferred State Employee Award from the Glavin Regional Center in 2009. He attributes much of his success to his spirituality and dedicated work ethic. Looking toward the future, Dr. Akinkuoye looks forward to continuing his work in the field of psychiatry on sleep studies, as well as rerouting his musical compositions for clinical use. Drawing upon over 30 years of experience, Dr. George O. Akinkuoye is a leader in the health care industry. Specializing in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, he has excelled as the president and chief executive officer of Medical Community Psychotherapy LLC since 2018. Additionally, since 2010, he has been a partner of Collaborative Mental Health Services, Inc., where he provides consulting services to nursing homes regarding mental health care. Dr. Akinkuoye originally began his career in 1992, serving as an MDS coordinator for the Resident Care Rehab and Nursing Center until 2006. Prior to commencing his career, Dr. Akinkuoye cultivated an education, beginning with the University of Ife in his homeland of Nigeria, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 1982. After immigrating to the U.S., he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and obtained another degree in construction management. He worked as a cost engineer with Holloway and Sons and later made a transition into health care during the 1993 recession. He continued his studies as a mental health clinician at Regis College, receiving a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate in nursing practice, while simultaneously creating two companies.
