The Crimson Tide Foundation also asked the Andersons to become members of The Bryant Society, considering Mr. Anderson’s donations. The Bryant Society required and provided an artist to paint their portrait, which hangs on the third floor of Bryant Denney Stadium. Ms. Anderson pursued an education at Stratford College, then transferred to Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, where she earned a BS in sociology and social work. She has been featured in Over the Mountain Journal, About Town and Birmingham Magazine. She attributes her success to her father and grandfather – two of the most successful businessmen in the state of Alabama who instilled in her the value of a strong work ethic and intrinsic motivation. Looking forward, she aspires to be continually involved with charitable causes and hopes to complete renovations of her family home in Pensacola Bay, Florida. Supported by 40 years of professional expertise in civic service, Julia “Judy” Wittichen Anderson has excelled as a member of The Guild of the BMC for over a decade. Currently serving as hospitality chairman, she began her civic service in that capacity for eight years. She then served as first vice president of projects where The Guild Gala was born to raise money, and highlight accomplished scholarship winners for the next four years. Following this, she was president of The Guild and formed the Charles C. and Julia W. Anderson Second Place Piano Scholarship, completing over 14 years of service to The Guild. Outside of The Guild of the BMC, Ms. Anderson served on the board of Wittichen Supply Company from 1980 to 2020, having also been recording secretary, assistant treasurer and registrar of the General Sumter chapter of Daughter of the American Revolution. Additionally, she was volunteer chairman for the Festival of Trees for 15 years, raising money for Children’s Hospital of Alabama, which was started in 1911 by a small group of Episcopalian individuals, including her great-grandmother, as the Holy Innocents Hospital Association.
