297 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine operated in similar teaching capacities at the University of California, Los Angeles, Michigan State University, Washington University, the University of Hawaii and the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Wei cultivated his own higher education, ultimately achieving a PhD at the University of California, Berkeley in 1980. Shortly thereafter, he completed postdoctoral research at the Institute for Advanced Study. He has since contributed over 80 math research papers and volumes, delivered over 250 lectures around the world, and conducted countless geometric analysis seminars. Dr. Wei’s written works have appeared in such publications as the Journal of Differential Geometry, Communications of Mathematical Physics, and the Journal of Geometric Analysis. Dr. Wei is a sponsor and advisor to the Chinese Student Association. He also formerly excelled as an editor for several journals, including the Tamkang Journal of Mathematics. Additionally, he co-founded the Midwest Geometry Conference (MGC) in 1991 and later revived the organization in 2012 following its hiatus, with the support of the National Science Foundation; the organization has greatly impacted the industry, with three noteworthy MGC Proceedings publications. Dr. Wei is gratified to have pioneered the study of p-Harmonic geometry and F-Yang-Mills fields and to have proposed his extrinsic average variational method by which he found SSU-manifolds and, subsequently, more geometric objects with his collaborators. He attributes his success to the love and support of his parents, Yeh Kung Wei and Yuen Shang Huang, who inspired and instilled in him the importance of wisdom, persistence, fairness and justice, and who have served as staunch educators and philosophers. Dr. Wei hopes to continue discovering new connections and unifications between various branches of mathematics and nature and highlighting them in life and physical sciences. Dr. Shihshu Walter Wei is a leading research mathematician and inspiring educator. Since 1985, he has served as a professor at the University of Oklahoma, where he has directed six doctoral students as a dedicated thesis adviser in geometric analysis, differential geometry, topology, real and complex geometry, mathematical physics, and partial differential equations. Dr. Wei has also served as a visiting professor at National Taiwan University and National Tsing Hua University.
