Since 2023, she has excelled as a registered nurse and travel nurse with Cox South, having also served in the same capacities with RTG Medical and Supplemental Health since 2020 and with Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Over the course of her career, Ms. Rice has focused her attention on serving in the ICU and emergency room in a myriad of capacities. Leveraging her passion for health care, she has always expressed gratitude for her work, as it has afforded her unique opportunities to learn new skills and develop her knowledge to help all patients who enter her care. Although she has experienced several career highlights, Ms. Rice is particularly proud of her tenure at Freeman Health, having served as a charge nurse in the ICU, where she monitored patients and performed cardioversion when necessary. Likewise, she is gratified by the opportunity to temporarily leave work to help care for her husband, who contracted COVID-19 in 2021 and underwent intubation. Despite not working, Ms. Rice continued to utilize her expertise to advocate for her husband’s health, thereby saving his life. Looking toward the future, Ms. Rice aims to return to a hospital setting, as she has always enjoyed working full-time as a charge nurse. She would also like to allocate more time to educating others so she can guide the upcoming generation of nursing professionals. She advises those who wish to enter her field to keep their minds open to new possibilities. D esiring to enter the health care industry from a formative age, Wanda Ann Rice was inspired to enter the field by her mother and grandmother, who were both nurses. Ms. Rice earned an associate degree in nursing from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and went on to serve as a registered nurse for Freeman Health.
