He subsequently became the first African American graduate student to earn an Endodontics Certificate from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Likewise, he is among the first class of African American graduates at the UC Los Angeles School of Dentistry. In addition to his academic credentials, he successfully completed the Central Regional Dental Board Exam comprising 10 states. In 2015, Dr. Shinn was honored with a Silver Angel Award on behalf of the Angel City Dental Society. In addition to the guidance of his former mentors, he attributes his success to his tendency to speak to his patients with kindness and respect. He previously learned the value of empathy and compassion in life from his beloved parents. Looking forward, Dr. Shinn hopes to take a qualified associate and weighs the possibility of selling his practice while dedicating his time and attention to his present responsibilities. Since 2015, Dr. George B Shinn Jr. has thrived as the owner, clinical director and senior endodontist at Endodontics LA. With over 50 years of experience, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that cause severe pain, such as tooth abscesses. He also regularly harnesses his surgical expertise to perform root surgeries to restore the health of infected teeth. Alongside his responsibilities at Endodontics LA, Dr. Shinn currently serves as a member of the Diversion Evaluation Committee of the Dental Board of California. He additionally provides endodontic services to underserved populations at The Children’s Dental Center of Greater Los Angeles in a volunteer capacity. Between 2010 and 2018, he excelled as an endodontic associate for Airport Center Family Dental. During this period, he served in this capacity with Walter Shaw, DDS and Roland Markarian, DMD. Prior to the formation of Endodontics LA, Dr. Shinn contributed to periodontist Paul D. Campbell, DDS as an endodontic associate for over 20 years. He previously established his endodontics expertise at his former private practice between 1977 and 1994. After the completion of his predental requirements at the University of Southern California, Dr. Shinn completed his DDS at the GEORGE B.
