To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Jacobs was honored as a co-recipient of the 1981 UNCHR Nobel Peace Prize. Impressively, Ms. Jacobs speaks three languages: English, Spanish and French. Outside of her primary efforts in law, she is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Horticultural Society. Looking toward the future, she intends to ease into a well-deserved retirement while dedicating more time to studying genealogy. Additionally, she would like to travel more often, having spent time living in Spain in past years. Married to her husband for over 30 years, Ms. Jacobs also has two daughters and one grandchild. Notably, her husband is an engineer who attained a pilot’s license. Ms. Jacobs attributes much of her current success to her determination to thrive early in life. This determination has carried her through the present day. A native of Argentina, Ana Teresa Jacobs, Esq., first attended the University of Buenos Aires, receiving a master’s degree in sociology in 1973. Following her immigration to the United States, she decided to pivot her career path to the field of law, realizing that she would be able to help more individuals with a law degree than a sociology degree. In 1994, Ms. Jacobs received a JD from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America. She was subsequently admitted to practice by the District of Columbia Bar Association. Since 1995, Ms. Jacobs has excelled as the senior attorney of the eponymous Ana Jacobs & Associates, P.C., located in Washington, D.C. Specializing in immigration law, she has also maintained active affiliation with the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association. Previously, Ms. Jacobs served as a resettlement officer with the United Nations. Among her many career highlights, Ms. Jacobs is particularly proud of winning a federal court case that led to the release of immigrants who had been wrongfully detained in the state of Virginia. Likewise, she won a similar case before the Board of Immigration Appeals, which assisted immigrants who were being wrongfully charged with crimes and deported without ANA TERESA JACOBS, ESQ.
