Currently, the organization specializes in adult day programs and adult residential care. In her leadership roles, Ms. Kennedy oversees various caregiving, health care and business operations. In her other civic-minded endeavors, Ms. Kennedy was a past early periodic screening diagnosis and treatment (EPSDT) case manager in Park County, Colorado. She previously worked as a WIC program director for the county, and she excelled with Park County Public Health for 14 years. Additionally, she regularly participates as a donor for the Life Bridge Food Pantry and as an advisor for disabled and special needs children’s programs at local schools. In her own academic pursuits, Ms. Kennedy received a higher education at The Pennsylvania State University, where she achieved an associate degree in 1976. In addition to her academic credentials, she was trained in firefighting at Red Rocks Community College, and she earned her certification in QMAP medication and as a state EMT. Ms. Kennedy went on to become the first woman firefighter in the Federal Heights Fire Department, where she served for many years, originally joining as a volunteer firefighter engineer between 1977 and 1981. To commemorate her earliest achievements in the field, Ms. Kennedy was recognized as the Firefighter of the Year in Federal Heights. Attributing much of her success to her persistence, determination and faith, she is particularly proud to remain part of one of the only group homes and centers in Park County, where she is able to tirelessly support and help others. In the coming years, Ms. Kennedy looks forward to continuing her career in advocacy by expanding her efforts to help more individuals. Melanie V. Kennedy has cultivated a career of excellence in civic advocacy and nonprofit work.
