108 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Eugene Thompson leverages decades of experience as an expert in the field of sports education. Since 2005, he has excelled as the head men’s tennis coach and an assistant women’s basketball coach at Virginia State University. A graduate of the institution, he previously achieved a master’s degree in 1971. In his other professional ventures, Mr. Thompson also excelled as a professor at the university for several years. He previously worked as a part-time head coach for men’s and women’s tennis at Lincoln University. Prior to attending Virginia State University, Mr. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation at Elizabeth City State University in 1966. Committed to his profession, he also remains affiliated with the United States Tennis Association and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. To commemorate his achievements, Mr. Thompson was inducted into the Delaware Sports Museum Hall of Fame, Elizabeth City State University Sports Hall of Fame and Family Journal Sarah McLean Literary Hall of Fame in 2022. Previously, he earned the NABC Achievement Award in 1978 and the Eve Kraft Community Service Award and the NCAA Division 3 National Community Service Award in 1998.
