212 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS With more than five decades of professional experience to her credit, Dr. Anne Marie B. Hunter has cultivated a fulfilling career in the field of education. Specializing in health care and nutrition education, she has served as an associate professor in the biomedical sciences department at Missouri State University since 2016. She originally joined the institution as an assistant professor in 2009, and she has also excelled as a master advisor and graduate research faculty member since 2010. Adjacent to her duties as an educator, Dr. Hunter has served as a consultant dietitian at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri, since 1977. Dr. Hunter originally began her career in 1969, working as a clinical dietician for the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical Center until 1970. Since then, she has worked with numerous other medical practices, working in dietetics, obstetrics and gynecology at institutions such as the Missouri State Chest Hospital and St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri. To remain abreast of key developments in her industry, Dr. Hunter remains affiliated with the Council of Teacher Practice, as part of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Hunter pursued a formal education, beginning with her time at the College of St. Elizabeth (now Saint Elizabeth University), where she earned a BS in home economics, foods and nutrition in 1968. She subsequently continued her studies at the University of Kansas and received an MS in dietetics and nutrition in 1980. Dr. Hunter ultimately achieved a PhD in nutrition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2009. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Hunter has been honored with numerous accolades, including a Medallion Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2017 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Missouri Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2016.
