78 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Foundation in Lancaster, California. As a member of the organization, she assists in developing new programs for young individuals who have been previously incarcerated, providing them with an education and helping them reintegrate into society. Much of her work in this regard comes in cooperation with the Los Angeles Reentry Partnership. In her own academic pursuits, Dr. Dusa ultimately achieved a PhD at the University of California Los Angeles in 1988. She is also well-regarded for her scholarly output, having authored “The Medieval Dalmatian Episcopal Cities: Development and Transformation (American University Studies)” in 1991. To commemorate her accomplishments, she has been honored with several accolades, including a Teacher of the Year Award in 2002. In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Dusa is particularly proud of all of her efforts to make education more accessible to others. Dr. Joan Dusa draws upon over three decades of experience as an expert in the field of education. For much of her career, she excelled as an independent scholar and educator, specializing in medieval European history and primarily working alongside the Los Angeles County Office of Education. At the onset of her career, Dr. Dusa excelled in the adult division of the Los Angeles Unified School District from 1988 to 1996. Additionally, in 1994, she began as an educator for the Juvenile Court and Community Schools, and between 1995 and 2012, she served at the Central Juvenile Hall Boys School. Outside of her primary vocational duties, Dr. Dusa has maintained her dedication to civic advocacy, having participated as a member of the Family School Community Partnership, as part of the Los Angeles County Office of Education, since 1997. Furthermore, she was a co-founder and former chair of Parents in Crisis. Founded from 2002 to 2009, the organization was committed to providing parents in need with professional referrals and other means of assistance.
