89 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION serves as a research assistant professor in the department of biomedical sciences and pathobiology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, as part of Virginia Polytechnic and State University. Dr. Santo originally joined the latter institution in 2001 as a laboratory specialist in the school’s department of biology. Originally from Albania, Dr. Santo began his career as a general physician at a university hospital in Tirana, where he worked between 1973 and 1974. He later joined the department of pathology in the School of Medicine at the University of Tirana from 1974 to 1987. During his time in the field, Dr. Santo also operated in Pisa, Italy, between 1993 and 1994, working as a research associate professor at the Institute of Clinical Physiology. Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Santo pursued a formal education, earning an MD at the University of Tirana in 1973. He subsequently continued his studies at the university and achieved a PhD in 1993. Ever dedicated to his various professional endeavors, he also remains affiliated with several organizations, including the International Academy of Pathology and the Medical Society of Virginia. Over the course of his career, Dr. Santo has contributed to more than 50 professional publications, having authored items such as articles, textbook chapters and monographs. To wit, he is particularly proud to have created 190 chapters based on his work in pathology. To commemorate his accomplishments, he was previously honored with a Golden Apple Award. Attributing much of his success to his insight and knowledge in the field of medicine, Dr. Santo looks forward to continuing his research in the coming years. With over five decades of professional experience, Dr. Arben Santo is a proven leader in the field of education. Specializing in medical academics, he has served as a professor of pathology at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2002.
