Dr. Smith previously served as a member of the organization’s board of trustees from 2016 to 2023. Adjacent to her primary duties, Dr. Smith holds a similar advisory position with the Virginia Theological Seminary. Prior to her current appointments, she worked as a faculty member for the Interim Ministry Network Inc. from 2003 to 2013. During her time with the network, she was also a board member from 2009 to 2015. In her other leadership opportunities, Dr. Smith excelled as a priest associate at St. David’s Church in Nashville, Tennessee, from 2009 to 2017. Over the course of her career, she has similarly led congregations at churches in Peekskill, New York, and Jacksonville, Florida. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Smith pursued a formal education, originally earning a Master of Theological Studies at Emory University in 1990 after completing relevant coursework at Hollins University. She subsequently continued her studies at the Seabury Western Theological Seminary, where she received a Master of Divinity in 1993. Dr. Smith ultimately achieved a Doctor of Ministry in evangelism at the Saint Paul School of Theology in 2000. In addition to her civic-minded efforts, Dr. Smith is well-regarded for her commitment as a writer. She notably published her first book in 2009, titled “Transitional Ministry: A Time of Opportunity,” published by Church Publishing Incorporated. In accounting for her professional accomplishments, she is particularly proud of her role in revitalizing the academic curriculum at the Interim Ministry Network. In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Smith attributes her success to her ability to effectively connect with others. With 30 years of professional experience to her credit, the Rev. Dr. Molly Dale Smith has cultivated a fulfilling career as a religious leader in her community.
