74 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Well-regarded for his many decades of expertise and service, G. James Capelli is a proven leader in the field of education. Having served in the field between 1958 and 1994, he specialized in various educational aspects, particularly industrial and vocational education, throughout his career. Prior to retiring in 1994, he excelled as the senior vice president of Clover Park Technical College, having originally taken on his leadership position in 1986. Before taking on his collegiate role, Mr. Capelli was an assistant administrator for vocational education in the Clover Park School District in Tacoma, Washington, from 1980 to 1986. He originally joined the school district in 1969 as a program advisor for distributive education. During his time with the district, he subsequently operated as a grant writer, continuing education supervisor, supervisor for vocational and career education, and a business operations advisor. At the onset of his career, Mr. Capelli was an instructor for the department of vocational and industrial education in the Franklin Pierce School District from 1958 to 1964. Over the course of his career, he also worked with such institutions as Clatsop Community College, Big Bend Community College and the Seattle Intermediate School District for Vocational Education. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Capelli also cultivated his own formal education, achieving a Bachelor of Education at Pacific Lutheran University in 1958 and a Master of Education at Oregon State University in 1965. Outside of his primary professional interests, Mr. Capelli has remained dedicated to civic advocacy. To this end, he served as a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Washington, in 1969 and of the Lakesmen in 1972. He also formerly served in various leading roles for the Lakewood Area Chamber of Commerce, notably serving as the organization’s president in 1991. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he was honored with an Outstanding Vocational Education Merit Award in 1981. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Capelli is particularly proud of his extensive involvement in academic program development. G.
