Additionally, she was a medical officer at the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health between 2016 and 2017. At the onset of her career, Dr. Gowda thrived as a student researcher, completing a variety of work at the National Institutes of Health between 2003 and 2004, Brown University in 2005 and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2007. In her pursuit of formal education, Dr. Gowda began her collegiate studies as a visiting undergraduate student at Harvard University between 2006 and 2007. She subsequently attended Brown University and earned a BS in neuroscience in 2008. Continuing her studies at Brown University, she joined the institution’s Warren Alpert Medical School and achieved an MD in 2012. Dr. Gowda concluded her academic career at the University of Washington, where she received an MPH in environmental and occupational health sciences in 2016. Dr. Gowda is well-regarded as a member of several industry-related organizations, including the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the International Commission on Occupational Health. Outside of her primary vocational interests, she remains active as a civic-minded citizen, volunteering with her colleagues to promote anti-racism and environmental health. In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Gowda has largely attributed her success to her grit and ability to motivate others. Drawing upon two decades of professional experience, Dr. Shilpa N. Gowda has cultivated a career of excellence in the health care industry.
