In 1993, he founded the Ojai Retreat & Inn in Ojai, California, where he continues to serve as the executive director. The secluded, five-acre, hilltop property features a wide range of comfortable rooms and beautiful vistas for customers to enjoy during their stay. Mr. Brugger was inspired to begin his business venture after visiting the land where the inn now stands and developing an understanding of the location’s spiritual importance. Mr. Brugger’s retreat center and inn are designed to provide guests with the most comfortable and enjoyable experiences possible. The location is uniquely serene, lining up perfectly with nearby mountain ranges and bluffs, which allow for breathtaking pink sunsets. In addition to the gorgeous sights and sounds of nature, the nearby city of Ojai also offers customers much to do during their visit to the inn, including cultural events, art shows, and health and academic retreats. The Ojai Retreat also serves as a nonprofit organization, hosting various cultural events and parties for guests whenever possible. To wit, the Ojai Retreat Cultural Center acts as a secondary arm for Mr. Brugger’s business, allowing his customers further access and ease with which they can host or participate in any number of community activities. The center includes five distinct venues, including a quiet room, mountain view terrace and waterfall garden, which can be utilized for events such as weddings, concerts, film viewings and academic meetings. In his leadership position, Mr. Brugger primarily oversees all daily operations of the inn.
