Having recently continued her studies, she received an associate degree in early childhood education from Fayetteville Technical Community College in 2018. Ms. Shaikh ultimately achieved a bachelor’s degree in early childhood administration at Purdue University Global in 2019. She is currently continuing her collegiate career at Purdue in the pursuit of a Master of Science in education, with a focus on teaching students with special needs. In light of her fulfilling career, Ms. Shaikh has largely attributed her success to her tenacity, faith and dedication to her field. To this end, she is driven by her knowledge that children are the future and that the world should be made into a better place for them. In the coming years, Ms. Shaikh intends to continue leaving a legacy for her grandchildren and hopes to find more time to continue writing. Drawing on several decades of professional experience, Icey Mae Shaikh has dedicated herself to children’s education, thriving as a teacher and children’s book author. Since 2018, she has published five books, including “Facing Childhood Fears” and “Alexander's Big Surprise” in 2018, “Me and My Baby Sister” in 2020, “Alexander Gets a New Hoverboard” in 2021 and “Alexander Can’t Find His Right Shoe” in 2023. Many of Ms. Shaikh’s stories promote diversity and inclusion and offer advice for parents on subjects such as helping children grapple with their fears and welcoming new children into a family. In her academic endeavors, Ms. Shaikh recently joined the Telamon Corporation, serving as a toddler teacher in the company’s Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Program. She previously operated as a substitute teacher for Education Staffing Solutions (ESS) from 2018 to 2023. Furthermore, she was a head start teacher in South Carolina. Adjacent to her primary professional interests, Ms. Shaikh has remained active as a civic-minded citizen, regularly supporting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She also maintains her affiliation with the National Society for Leadership and Success.
