141 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine ENTREPRENEURS Further honoring his achievements, Mr. Raffaeli was recognized by the New York International Wine Competition in 2020 with the Argentina Barrel Aged Winery of the Year and in 2021 by the New York International Spirits Competition for the Blended Scotch Whisky of the Year. For his contributions to the community, he was honored to receive the American Hero Award from the National Kidney Registry in 2017 for donating one of his kidneys to a patient in need. In light of his fulfilling career and life, Mr. Raffaeli has largely attributed his success to his positive upbringing, familial support, and personal and professional mentors. Raffaeli taught a variety of business courses to international students in the United States and MBA candidates in Thailand. He also served as an MBA dissertation supervisor and was a certified career school instructor in New York. In his own pursuits, Mr. Raffaeli earned a Bachelor of Arts in social science from Waynesburg University in 1975 and a Master of Science in industrial relations from West Virginia University in 1977. An accomplished author as well, Mr. Raffaeli has contributed many articles to professional publications in the health care industry. He was also a contributing editor of Managing Employee Health Benefits Magazine, a member of the board of advisors for the Journal of Health Care Benefits, and a trustee of the Washington, D.C., think tank, the Employee Benefit Research Institute. Moreover, Mr. Raffaeli has been cited in a number of national publications, including the New York Times article, “Dream Homes for Golfers and Wine Lovers.” Well-regarded as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Raffaeli is a hereditary member of America’s oldest patriotic organization, the Society of the Cincinnati. Furthermore, he maintains membership with the Sons of the American Revolution and National Genealogical Society, where he is currently enrolled in a certificate program in advanced genealogy. Over the last 20 years, he has served on nine nonprofit boards of directors (three of them as board chair), accumulating over 90 years of aggregate service. He has been the vice chair of the Mountbatten Internship Programme since 2011 and served 18 years on the board of directors of buildOn, where he and his family fully funded the construction of five buildOn schoolhouses in developing countries and participated in the construction of schools in Mali, Africa and Nicaragua. He was named a “Leader of the Movement” by buildOn in 2016.
