Now retired from her work as a middle school teacher, she has excelled as the owner of the Red Rooster Cookie Jar since 2018. Serving numerous communities and customers in The Villages region of Florida, Ms. Conti-O’Brien’s business is well-regarded for its unique selection of delicious cookies and loaves of bread, all of which are home-baked and made from scratch. Prior to beginning her own baked goods enterprise, Ms. Conti-O’Brien thrived in the field of education. To wit, she was a team leader at Flood Middle School, as part of the Stratford Public Schools in Connecticut, from 1998 to 2017, having originally joined the school network in 1996 as an eighth-grade Spanish and French teacher. At the onset of her career, Ms. Conti-O’Brien served as an assistant producer for juvenile audio-home video at Random House, Inc., as part of Crown Publishing Group, between 1989 and 1991. Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Ms. Conti-O’Brien pursued her own formal education, attending Salve Regina University and achieving a bachelor’s degree in 1989. She subsequently completed postgraduate coursework at Sacred Heart University and earned a teaching certification from the institution in 1996. Ever committed to her various professional endeavors, Ms. Conti-O’Brien currently remains affiliated with the Women Business Owners Networking Group. Ms. Conti-O’Brien has been honored with several accolades over the course of her career. Most recently, she received a formal recommendation on Restaurant Guru for 2021, 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, in 2021, she was awarded a Certificate of Excellence. Red Rooster Cookie Jar also received the Best of the 352 Award for Dessert and Bakery and was featured in CanvasRebel Magazine and Lake and Sumter STYLE Magazine. In accounting for her accomplishments, Ms. Conti-O’Brien is particularly proud to have rapidly developed such a successful business, which she looks forward to expanding in the coming years.
