195 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine GOVERNMENT AND MILITARY Drawing upon more than 20 years of professional experience, James “Jim” Duane Wheeler Sr. has cultivated an accomplished military career. From 1976 to 1995, he served in the United States Army as an enlisted officer. Throughout his time in the field, he primarily operated as a mechanic. Having served abroad for several years in the Netherlands as well, he is highly regarded for implementing a new driver’ s training program for his battalion. Before he retired from his service, Mr. Wheeler achieved the rank of sergeant first class. Among his numerous career highlights, Mr. Wheeler is appreciative of the opportunities he found while serving overseas in Europe. In addition to his work in the Netherlands, his unit supported one of three tank regiments that patrolled around the Czechoslovakian border. Since retiring from his service, he has also remained dedicated to civic advocacy, notably participating as a volunteer at the senior center in Boise, Idaho. The center selected Mr. Wheeler on account of his record of similar volunteer service at Plantation Palace in Boise. Adjacent to his primary professional interests, he also previously worked as a master instructor in Edgewood, Maryland. As part of his academic endeavors, Mr. Wheeler completed the basic noncommissioned officer course and the advanced non-commissioned officer course at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1986 and 1991, respectively. Additionally, he completed a primary leadership development course in Fort Hood, Texas. He formally earned his title as a master instructor after completing further coursework in Edgewood, Maryland. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Wheeler attributes his success to his dedicated work ethic. To wit, he has always placed special emphasis on continually improving himself and his ability to be of service to others. In this regard, he is grateful to his mentors in the military, who offered him invaluable guidance. Likewise, in accounting for his achievements, he is particularly proud of his time working in Edgewood as an instructor, as it allowed him to guide future generations of mechanics.
