Dr. Singerman was president of the Cleveland Ophthalmological Society and the Ohio Ophthalmological Society and a charter member of the Retina Hall of Fame. He has served on the editorial boards of Retina, the Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases, Retinal Cases & Brief Reports, and the boards of several other journals. Dr. Singerman is expanding his research efforts at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He is developing a Snowbird program at Bascom Palmer that will enable clinical trial investigators in Northern climates to enroll patients who spend their winters in Florida. This program will benefit all parties: the Northern Retina Specialists, Bascom Palmer, the sponsors of clinical trials, and especially the patients who winter in Florida but want access to the latest evolving drugs at no cost. He sees patients at Bascom Palmer’s Lois Pope Center for Retinal and Macular Degeneration Research in Palm Beach Gardens during the winter months. Singerman Medal from The Macula Society for outstanding contributions to retinal clinical trials. This scholarship is given to five medical students annually, each mentored by a senior full-time clinician scientist at Bascom Palmer. He received the Maimonides Award from Israel Bonds. Since 2014, he has served as vice chair for clinical activities of the Dean’s Committee at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He has been featured in Best Doctors in America every year since 1998 and has been featured annually in Cleveland Magazine as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly Ltd. Dr. Singerman served as the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s council vice chair and on its executive committee.
