CLAYTON, MD Leveraging over 10 years of professional experience, Dr. Brittany C. Clayton is a leader in the health care industry. Since 2021, she has excelled as the president and primary physician of East Tennessee Vein Clinic in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she specializes in treating superficial vein disease (phlebology). Dr. Clayton is particularly proud of her clinic as it is the only female physician-owned company in East Tennessee dedicated to treating superficial venous disease. Dr. Clayton achieved her MD from the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2011. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist who chose to change her focus to venous disease. Dr. Clayton is a diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. She is also a Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) and a member of the American Venous and Lymphatic Society. Dr. Clayton attributes much of her early success to her respect for her patients. To wit, she is well regarded for treating each of her patients like family. In the coming years, she hopes to further expand her practice and leave her mark on her community. Toni Curtis is a figurehead in the maternal health community and is widely revered for her knowledge, expertise and groundbreaking work in bridging the gap of racial and socioeconomic disparities in the maternal health care system. She has been a practicing birth worker for nearly 25 years, attended over 500 births, and is known for providing extraordinary, memorable and personalized care. Established in 2020, Ms. Curtis is the founder and director of client services for BirthWise Doula Services, a maternal support practice in North Carolina. BirthWise espouses a distinct perspective — birth is a “life process,” not a medical process, and further advocates that evidence-based, physiological birth practices help to limit unnecessary medical intervention and improve birth outcomes. Ms. Curtis holds a BSBA from Sullivan University and has attained numerous expert-level certifications from industry leaders in maternal health, including DONA International, Lamaze and Spinning Babies™. Ms. Curtis’ future intentions are embodied in the remit of her practice: cultivate the next generation of maternal support professionals through education and mentorship, address and reduce the impact of the ongoing maternal health crisis in the United States and, most importantly, continually improve birth outcomes for patients.
