246 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE Nathan Daniel Bentley leverages a wealth of practiced expertise in the hospitality industry as the chef and proprietor of Altura Bistro in Anchorage, Alaska. Since 2019, the restaurant has been well-regarded in the community, offering a fine dining experience with delicious cuisine and a superb drink selection. Serving as the head of the business, he oversees all daily operations, receives and prepares food orders, offers wine tastings and responds to catering orders. Additionally, Mr. Bentley manages the restaurant’s soup business, through which he provides hundreds of gallons of soup to other restaurants and cafes each week. Mr. Bentley’s business has been a critical success, having received many positive reviews both online and from various printed publications. In 2021, Altura Bistro was rated #15 in the Top Restaurants in the Country on Yelp. Furthermore, Mr. Bentley was James Beard nominated as the Best Chef of the Northwest in 2021, and he previously received a Wine Spectator Award. The restaurant has similarly been named the Best of Alaska and the Best Fine Dining Restaurant. As part of his vocational journey, Mr. Bentley cultivated his higher education. To this end, he earned an associate degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he continues to serve on the board of directors for the school’s culinary program. Furthermore, he attended the Apicius International School of Hospitality for five months, where he received training in culinary arts and other aspects of the hospitality industry. Mr. Bentley concluded his studies at the Florence University of the Arts, where he studied in 2011. In light of his fulfilling career, Mr. Bentley attributes much of his success to the love and support of his family and friends. Likewise, he is immensely grateful for his incredible, loyal staff members. In accounting for his accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have built his business and maintained it throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In the coming years, Mr. Bentley hopes to open another restaurant where he can focus on cooking burgers and offering whiskey tastings.
