260 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine LAW AND LAW ENFORCEMENT With more than three decades of professional experience to her credit, Karen Bell has cultivated a fulfilling career in the field of law enforcement. Well-regarded for her compassion for children, vulnerable members of her community and victims of crimes, she has excelled as a sergeant for the Anishinabek Police Service in Ontario, Canada. In addition to her responsibilities as a law enforcement officer, she also oversees a variety of administrative duties, including department evaluations, human resources matters, organization restructuring and adding new communities under the banner of the police service. Adjacent to her primary professional duties, Ms. Bell remains dedicated to civic advocacy, regularly participating in and volunteering with several noteworthy organizations. To this end, she has been a board member of the Phoenix Rising Foundation, a private foundation that addresses food insecurity issues in different communities, for over 10 years. Furthermore, Ms. Bell has been a member of the council for Garden River First Nation for six years. The organization endeavors to cultivate a thriving, harmonious community built on mutual respect through prosperity and general well-being. As part of her commitment to her ongoing pursuits, Ms. Bell also continues to serve as a board member of Victim Services of Algoma and of the Indigenous Welfare Agency. Prior to her more recent endeavors, she worked with the Toronto Police Service and with the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. She also previously received a formal education, studying at Carleton University and achieving a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1982. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Bell has been honored with several accolades over the course of her career, including the Sault Ste. Marie Business Women’s Recognition in 2000. Attributing much of her success to her parents, who instilled in her a strong work ethic, she is particularly proud of her work in giving back to the indigenous community.
