In his own academic pursuits, Dr. Macdonald first earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and urban studies at the University of Albany in 1979. He subsequently continued his studies at Johns Hopkins University, where he achieved both a Master of Science in Engineering in urban geography and a PhD in urban geography. Ever committed to his profession, Dr. Macdonald also remains affiliated with Vistage Worldwide, Inc., and he is a founder and managing director of Casa de Duende, which he began with his partner in 2011. To commemorate his achievements, Dr. Macdonald was recognized in the Nonprofit Power 100 by City & State Pennsylvania in 2022. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his listening skills and his love of learning from others. Looking toward the future, Dr. Macdonald hopes to continue transforming and diversifying his nonprofit business. With over three decades of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Jerry Macdonald has cultivated a career of excellence in nonprofit work. Since 2016, he has served as the president and chief executive officer of Caring People Alliance. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the organization is highly regarded for providing children and their families with crucial resources and services, many of which promote teamwork, personal growth, academic achievement and healthier lifestyles. In his leadership position, Dr. Macdonald focuses on various fundraising efforts and long-term strategies for future initiatives. Dr. Macdonald previously worked with Caring People Alliance as the senior vice president from 2012 to 2016. He originally joined the company in 2001 as the director of program planning and evaluation. Throughout his tenure, he also held positions as the director of center operations, vice president of business development and planning, senior vice president and chief operating officer.
