81 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION With over five decades of professional experience to his credit, Dr. Robert Michael Meyer has cultivated an accomplished career as a leader in the field of education. From 1981 until his retirement in 2019, he served in a number of positions at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, his alma mater, originally joining the institution as a faculty member. He subsequently served as the program director for the manufacturing engineering program at the institution from 1994 to 1998 and as the director of the Stout Technology Transfer Institute from 1997 to 2000. At the height of his career, Dr. Meyer was the chancellor of the university from 2014 to 2019. Today, he maintains the honorary title of chancellor emeritus. Throughout his time in the field, Dr. Meyer has largely focused on teaching metalworking, welding, robotics and manufacturing engineering. Additionally, in his leadership roles, he was well-versed in strategic planning and managing a variety of university affairs. Adjacent to his primary professional endeavors, he has also worked alongside numerous other educational organizations over the course of his career, including the Wisconsin Center for Manufacturing & Productivity, Momentum West, the Greater Menomonie Development Corporation and the Wisconsin Association for Career & Technical Education. As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Meyer pursued his own formal education. During his time as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, he earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial education in 1980 and a Master of Science in management technology in 1983. He later attended the University of Minnesota and achieved a PhD in industrial engineering in 1995. Well-regarded for his accomplishments, Dr. Meyer was honored with several accolades during his time in the field, including the President’s Award from the Wisconsin Association for Career & Technical Education in 2013 and the Nelva G. Runnalls Research Support Recognition Award. Furthermore, the university recognized him as Educator of the Year in 2000. In light of his fulfilling career, Dr. Meyer has largely attributed his success to his proficiency in educational development and his natural inclination as a teacher. DR.
