86 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine EDUCATION Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Mr. Peck earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at Bates College in 1953. He subsequently continued his studies after beginning his professional career, earning a Master of Science in science teaching at Union College in 1960. In his endeavors to achieve a doctoral degree, Mr. Peck studied at the University of Maryland and completed all but dissertation toward a PhD in 1971. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, Mr. Peck has received several honors for his work, including a complimentary trip to the Argonne National Laboratory. Furthermore, he remains active as a life member of the National Science Teaching Association. Attributing much of his success to his time spent teaching his students, which he enjoyed endlessly, Mr. Peck is particularly proud to have served as the director of science education programs for two different school districts for more than 20 years. Leveraging over four decades of professional experience, Donald B. Peck is a proven expert in the field of education. Now retired, he previously served as the director of the Center for Elementary Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 1987 to 1996. In his leadership role, he oversaw numerous learning initiatives for science education and curriculum creation, especially pertaining to chemistry, geology and mineralogy. In his other academic roles, Mr. Peck excelled as the supervisor for science curriculum and instruction for the Woodbridge Township School District from 1974 to 1985. He originally began his career in 1953, working as a chemistry and physics teacher at Litchfield High School in Connecticut. In his other creative and scholarly pursuits, Mr. Peck authored the 2007 book, “Mineral Identification: A Practical Guide for the Amateur Mineralogist,” which received an updated edition in 2018. Over the course of his career, he has also co-authored books from various publications, including Holt, Rinehart & Winston and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Additionally, Mr. Peck remains active as a civic-minded citizen in his community, having tirelessly volunteered with Habitat for Humanity International for many years. DONALD B.
