Before joining Conestoga College, Mr. Quartermain’s most recent role was vice president of indirect procurement at a national Canadian grocery retail chain. Mr. Quartermain was promoted to his position after serving in progressively senior roles over his 38-year career with the company. Mr. Quartermain is a seasoned strategic sourcing, supply chain and procurement professional who understands the complexities of companies facing market disruption and other critical issues affecting their business. Mr. Quartermain pursued a formal education at York University (Bachelor of Commerce), Osgoode Hall Law School (Master of Laws specializing in alternative dispute resolution), and the University of Waterloo (Master of Peace and Conflict Studies). In addition to his academic credentials, he pursued and holds several related certifications and certificates in teaching, supply chain, lean six sigma green belt, dispute resolution and project management. Adding to his expertise, Mr. Quartermain has been published professionally on supply chain and other relative topics and has spoken at professional conferences. Mr. Quartermain served on the Ontario Institute, Supply Chain Canada board, was a community member of Mackenzie Health, and was a circle facilitator for Peacebuilders Canada. Attributing much of his success to his supportive family and friends, Mr. Quartermain is particularly proud of his work as an educator. He believes the best way to test your knowledge is to teach it to someone else. He is particularly proud of his work at Conestoga College, sharing his knowledge and experience with students to shape future industry leaders. In the coming years, Mr. Quartermain looks forward to continuing his learning journey and developing his skills as an educator. Having joined Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in 2019, Michael Quartermain is a strategic global business management professor in the school of business. He lectures on key business topics, ensuring that, as future leaders, students are equipped for today’s business environment.
