125 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition BUSINESS SERVICES, CONSULTING AND HUMAN RESOURCES Gloria Mignon Batey boasts over 20 years of corporate experience. Throughout her career, she has launched transformative technologies, overhauled business practices, and led training programs in workforce development, community engagement, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Inspired by her parents’ faith and civic involvement, Ms. Batey’s dedication to uplifting marginalized communities led to the creation of BELTS ED NFP. Through collaborative partnerships with the Chicago Baptist Institute (CBI) and Bridge to Freedom (B2F), BELTS provides workforce development, job placement, re-entry and wrap-around services to youths and underserved populations across Chicago. Earlier in her career at Xerox Corp, Ms. Batey earned a BA in instructional design with honors at DePaul University in 1999. She then redesigned the training program to incorporate practical applications to improve the learner experience. Continuing her professional development, she received an MA in adult education from her alma mater in 2015. After earning an OCM certification, which led to ERP consulting, she traveled the country, crafting strategic OCM plans and delivering comprehensive communication and training. She then transitioned enterprises from dated legacy systems to new technologies. Along her journey, Ms. Batey amassed DEI and project management certifications to round out her cross-functional “unicorn” portfolio of assets. After achieving the pinnacle of success in ERP and OCM, her inner passion for uplifting blighted communities influenced her pivot into DEI, workforce development, and community engagement. This trifecta of dedication magnifies her innermost self-actualizations and her quest for humanitarian equality, the impetus for founding BELTS. Looking ahead, Ms. Batey will continue building her nonprofit and expanding its reach, prior to becoming entrenched in dayto-day duties after retirement. Joining forces with seasoned partners who share the same humanitarian equity goals has aided with increasing programmatic bandwidth and securing funding. In light of her fulfilling journey, she credits her parents, Pastor Walter Turner from CBI, and Dr. Mica Battle from B2F for their mentorship in the development of BELTS.
