556 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS was accepted, and in 2015, she immigrated to the United States to become a research fellow in environmental health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Today, she continues her research on the impact of environmental radiation on human health. Since 2023, Dr. Zilli Vieira has served as an instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Cyprus-Harvard Endowment Program for the Environment and Public Health. She considers her research into the interaction between environmental terrestrial and extra-terrestrial radiation and pollution to be her greatest accomplishment, as it has led to the creation of a new area of study at her institution. Looking ahead, Dr. Zilli Vieira is interested in continuing to teach and plans to pursue a professor position that would allow her to maintain her own lab. Additionally, she intends to write books about her research on solar activity and environmental risk factors. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Carolina Zilli Vieira achieved a DDS at São Paulo State University (Universidade Estadual Paulista) Júlio de Mesquita Filho in 2002. Shortly thereafter, she began working as a dental surgeon in dental clinics in São Paulo. Likewise, she was a research fellow at the Heart Institute of the University of São Paulo, where she achieved a PhD in cardiology in 2009. In her PhD proposal, she investigated the impact of dental infections on atherosclerosis in high-risk patients. Noting an increase in infectious diseases between 2008 and 2009, Dr. Zilli Vieira believed environmental risk factors were causing infections and microorganism mutations. In 2012, she became a postdoctoral fellow in environmental pathology at the University of São Paulo, where she conducted research for five years. During her post-doctoral research, she studied the effect of galactic cosmic rays and solar cycles on human health. Impressed with her work, Dr. Zilli Vieira was recommended to send a proposal to Harvard University, where she could study the interaction between environmental radiation (terrestrial and extra-terrestrial) and pollution, as well as their impact on health outcomes.
