586 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE Joe Kraus is the owner and chief executive officer of Cherry Street Cafe, building on nearly 25 years of food, beverage and hospitality industry excellence. A local favorite known for its scratch cooking, fresh ingredients, and standout biscuits and gravy, the establishment was founded in 2016 and offers breakfast, lunch and catering menus. Since opening, the restaurant has been featured in area media outlets and included in lists of the top dining locations in Warren County, Ohio, year after year. Mr. Kraus’ professional journey began in the early 2000s, after earning an associate degree from Pennsylvania Culinary. Hungry for opportunity and driven by a desire to learn more about the cooking and restaurant business, he sought out positions with a wide variety of establishments, learning to cook diverse cuisines and manage the needs of different clientele and communities. One of his most impactful roles was at a New Jersey eatery focused on rustic and home-style regional Italian cuisine. There, he refined the skills that would lead him to higher-level roles, including a sous chef position at a different restaurant. Throughout his career, Mr. Kraus has remained focused on his goal of running his own restaurant, accruing the knowledge and familiarity required for success as a part of the opening team of several dining establishments. As the owner of Cherry Street Cafe, he is involved in every aspect of operations, from marketing and financial management to menu development, cooking and service. He is currently focused on remodeling the cafe’s dining room, making a push to expand the catering side of his business with the goal of diversifying its revenue streams and increasing its presence in the community. As a local business leader, Mr. Kraus has led several support initiatives benefiting firefighters, and he is passionate about using his role in the community to make a positive impact on others. He credits his success to his fearlessness, constant learning and dedication, and he advises that other new entrepreneurs and culinary professionals should remain open to chance and unafraid to take risks.
