595 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE Alessandro Spaziani Montagna is a restaurateur and food industry entrepreneur who has brought authentic, handcrafted Italian pizza to diners in Sausalito, California, having owned and operated his own establishments in the region since 2013. Born and raised in Italy, he grew up with a passion for the country’s culinary traditions, fresh and uncomplicated dishes, and warm hospitality. He studied business and philosophy at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and spent ten years as an independent entrepreneur running Ristorazione before relocating to the United States in 2013. In 2013, Mr. Spaziani Montagna became the owner and president of Golden Mountain Foods Inc., and the following year, he opened Sandrino Restaurant with his wife. Dedicated to providing patrons with a genuine experience that “feels like going to a friend’s home” and dishes that communicate his love for Italian ingredients and cuisine, he focuses on a small menu of pizzas, antipasti and housemade desserts in his restaurants. As the owner and president of his ventures, he is responsible for overseeing daily operations and menu development, in addition to sourcing and importing ingredients from Italy. Furthermore, he manages all financial functions and long-term planning. In the coming years, Mr. Spaziani Montagna plans to open another restaurant in partnership with a graduate of The School of Italian Culinary Arts and publish a series of books highlighting Italian food culture and recipes developed by him and his wife. He lives by the philosophy that beauty can be found in unexpected places and incorporated into all areas of life; recently, he has extended this idea to his love of deep-sea diving. Mr. Spaziani Montagna has been a scuba diving instructor for three years and considers the natural world to be a source of wonder, joy and creative inspiration.
