600 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HOSPITALITY AND LEISURE Inspired by a passion for Italian cuisine, Enza Pilla has distinguished herself as a co-owner of Nonna Maria’s Italian Deli & Market, which she manages alongside her husband, Richard. Based in Mint Hill, North Carolina, and named in honor of Ms. Pilla’s late mother, Nonna Maria’s offers authentic food and goods imported from the Colle Sannita and Rieno communes of Italy. Ms. Pilla and her husband were initially motivated to open a restaurant after relocating from New York to North Carolina, where they were struck by a scarcity of strong food options — especially Italian cuisine. Drawing on their love of food and entrepreneurial spirit, they established Nonna Maria’s in 2022. Since its opening, Nonna Maria’s has been featured prominently by the Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly publication, where it was voted as the number one sandwich shop in the area in 2023. Likewise, the deli was lauded with a certificate of excellence from Italy during the same year. Attributing her success to the strong work ethic she inherited from her parents, Ms. Pilla aims to continue providing her customers with the exceptional products and delicious food they’ve come to adore.
