SALIFU Bolstered by over 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Ilemona T. Salifu has found success in his role at the Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Since 2022, he has served as the director of sales, marketing and events for Park Hyatt Washington DC. An expert in client relations, leadership and coaching, he oversees a team of professionals specializing in sales, event planning, marketing and business travel. Mr. Salifu also collaborates with the director of revenue to curate and design promotional hotel packages. An active contributor to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives within Hyatt and the hospitality industries at large, Mr. Salifu regularly participates in recruitment at historically Black colleges and other national recruiting events, such as NMBAA. He also collaborates with other organizations in their own DEI efforts as well. Furthermore, he has been invited to speak and teach on the subject as an adjunct professor at several academic institutions. Mr. Salifu has always strived to remain true to his authentic self, and he is proud of the resilience he gained through his honorable service in the United States Navy. Attributing much of her success to her dedicated work ethic, Sheryl Yavorski serves as the owner of Gram’s Pasties, a pasty bakery located in Escanaba, Michigan. Working alongside her husband, Ms. Yavorski bakes fresh pasties — a baked, often meat-filled pastry originating in England — every morning and acts as the first point of contact for customers and supply vendors. Well-regarded in the community, the shop has been named among the Best of the Best by an Escanaba newspaper for 14 consecutive years. Outside of her work at Gram’s Pasties, Ms. Yavorski and her husband previously owned 906 Flowers and Gifts, a flower and gift shop that closed in 2022. Likewise, they owned UP Golf Cart, which opened in 2007 and operated for several years before the couple decided to focus on Gram’s Pasties instead. Driven by the conviction that one can find fulfillment in achieving their long-term goals, Ms. Yavorski looks forward to locating and securing the most qualified individuals to assist her in managing her business.
