Freidel enjoyed a fulfilling career in legal service that spanned more than three decades, culminating in his role as the owner of the Law Office of S. Robert Freidel, where he specialized in employment law, sexual harassment cases and other forms of discrimination from 1992 until his retirement in 2022. During this time, Mr. Freidel also offered his services as a consultant on behalf of various small businesses, and he practiced in the areas of matrimonial law, workers’ compensation and personal injury. To better support his professional efforts, Mr. Freidel served on the board of the New Jersey chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association — the only professional organization in the United States that is solely comprised of lawyers who represent clients in employment law — from 2008 until 2014. Throughout this period, he presented at several industry conferences and helped edit the organization’s newsletter in New Jersey. Outside of his work in law, Mr. Freidel has committed himself to helping those in need as a district governor for Lions Club International, a nonprofit organization that provides various services on behalf of their respective communities. Having led the New Jersey Lions Multiple District 16 since 2015, he is particularly proud to have hosted the Lions Flight for Sight Hot Air Balloon Festival in June of 2023, through which the Lions collected and donated used eyeglasses to those who could not afford them. Mr. Freidel was first drawn to the organization in 1990, largely at the invitation of his brother. In addition to his current role as a district governor, he also served as a former council chair. Well-regarded for his work on behalf of the Lions, Mr. Freidel was bestowed with three Presidential Medals in 2016, 2017 and 2020, as well as a Governor’s Excellence Award on two occasions in 2015 and 2016. As the incoming global membership team leader for his district and the state of New Jersey, he is presently engaged in assembling a team for Mission 1.5, with the stated goal of reaching 1.5 million members globally by July of 2027.
