Edgerton, Esq., has found success in litigation for commercial and civil cases with a focus on real estate and commercial collections law. Inspired by his father, a lawyer since the 1950s and one of the founders of the firm that would become Edgerton & Edgerton, he decided to pursue a career in law. Mr. Edgerton earned a bachelor’s degree in business management, cum laude, from the Northern Illinois University College of Business and achieved a JD at the Northern Illinois College of Law in 1996, graduating fifth in his class. Mr. Edgerton began his career as a clerk for Kane County, Illinois, in 1987 and moved his focus to real estate and bankruptcy in 1992 as a legal assistant for Winston & Strawn LLP. The following year, he joined his father’s practice, Farrell, Edgerton & Hatfield, as a law clerk, becoming an associate in 1996 when the firm rebranded as Edgerton & Edgerton. Throughout the 1990s, he continued to work with other firms, including Zurich Kemper Investments Inc. and the Kane County attorney’s office, becoming the youngest certified arbitrator for DuPage, Kane and McHenry counties. Mr. Edgerton has handled more than 500 cases, including 12 jury trials, over the course of his career, and he has written and lectured extensively on topics in his field. Mr. Edgerton’s success was built on his work ethic, and he credits his preparedness in helping him continue his professional growth both in and out of the courtroom. For more than a decade, he has provided pro bono legal services to clients through the Kane and DuPage county court systems, and he has proudly served his peers through leadership roles in the DuPage County Bar Association. His commitment to service extends to the larger community, having acted as a mounted ranger for the Kane County Mounted Rangers since 1991. Mr. Edgerton looks forward to maintaining his meticulous standard of practice and reputation for client results in the coming years and hopes to serve as a mentor and leader to other legal professionals.
