Throughout her career, Ms. Klotz has been honored for professional excellence, earning clinical service accolades from Lehigh Valley Health Network and a Nightingale Award for trauma care from the University of Washington. She credits her success to her constant pursuit of excellence and to the early inspiration of her grandmother and the family doctors that she looked up to as a child. In the coming years, Ms. Klotz looks forward to helping Bloodworks Northwest expand its area and range of care to meet the changing needs of the community. She also hopes to continue contributing to the body of knowledge and improve patient safety, options and outcomes. Patricia L. Klotz is a research nurse with more than 25 years of experience in trauma care and clinical research design and management. Initially planning to pursue an MD, she enrolled in an accelerated pre-medicine program but pivoted after taking time away from school to manage her health. She enrolled at Wilkes University, earning a BS in biology with the goal of becoming a teacher, but discovered a passion for nursing after accepting a trauma nursing assistant position to support her studies. Ms. Klotz completed a BSN at Cedar Crest College in 1986 and began her career in acute care and trauma settings. She would remain in clinical nursing for more than 15 years before transitioning into research nursing at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Ms. Klotz remained at the University of Washington until 2021, building on her clinical expertise by managing research studies in neurological injury, neurologic trauma, and related care.
