152 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine BUSINESS SERVICES, CONSULTING AND HUMAN RESOURCES Edgar J. Ridley is a scholar, writer and consultant celebrated for his development of the Symptomatic Thought Process®. The trademarked process is used to identify and eliminate biased and symbolic thought from workplaces and academic institutions. From an early age, Mr. Ridley recognized racial biases in education and publishing, and he sought to work with some of the world’s preeminent scholars across several disciplines to rectify these issues. In 1987, he completed a period of independent study on symbolism from antiquity to contemporary culture under renowned physicist and anthropologist Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop at the University of Dakar. He considers this period to have been formative to his career and perspectives and credits much of his early success to Dr. Diop’s influence and support. Mr. Ridley went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps for six years before becoming an ecumenical liaison for the Metropolitan Associates of Philadelphia, sponsored by the Geneva-based World Council of Churches. Building on his insights into organizational leadership and structure and his behavioral psychology expertise, he joined the Temple University Community Mental Health Center' as a senior psychotherapist. Since 1979, Mr. Ridley has excelled as the owner and chair of Edgar J. Ridley & Associates Inc., a consulting firm offering workshops, training, and focused organizational assessments based on his Symptomatic Thought Process®. In recognition of his work as a consultant and in the development of the Symptomatic Thought Process®, Mr. Ridley has been designated as an Expert Productivity Consultant by the Asian Productivity Corporation. Likewise, he was presented with a lifetime achievement award from President Joe Biden, as well as the Platinum Who’s Who Certificate — the ultimate achievement in honors — and the Danny Glover Power of Dream Award from the United Nations High Summit. He has published extensively on the Symptomatic Thought Process® concept and topics in business and culture, in addition to a four-volume anthology titled “The Golden Apple: Changing the Structure of Civilization.” Mr. Ridley hopes to continue dismantling racial biases, improving human behavior through analysis, and encouraging educators and leaders to turn from symbolic to symptomatic thought processes.
