He also worked as a teacher and later as the director of the evening school in Georgetown, DC. Pivoting again to business, Mr. Workman entered the sales field as the director of Safety Partner, a division of Halliburton’s business-to-business global training company. Afterward, he spent several years in mergers and acquisitions, including a joint venture with PBS for another Fortune 200 company. Mr. Workman holds a BS in behavioral and social science from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and continued his education as a mid-career professional, completing coursework toward an MBA at the Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business. He serves as an alumni advisory board member at the UMGC, has endowed a scholarship for military veterans there, and was inducted into the Ehrensberger Legacy Society by former UMGC President Gregory Fowler. As an avocation, Mr. Workman provides career coaching services to professionals at all levels of their careers. Furthermore, he has established 1dagree LLC to continue providing his 35 years of experience to others. Outside of his primary endeavors, he has served as an advocate for victims of crimes for over 35 years, testifying for victims’ rights legislation and serving on the board of the Maryland Crime Victims Resource Center. He also helped create and served on the inaugural Maryland Statewide Board of Victims Services for three years under former Governor Donald Schaefer. In 2003, he received the Maryland Governor’s Award for Victims Services from Governor Bob Ehrlich. In 2019, he was recognized by his alma mater and received the Alumni Achiever Award from UMGC’s President Javier Miyares. Norman Francis Workman celebrates more than 35 years of continued success in sales, marketing, business development and talent acquisition. He began his career in the United States Army, where he served as a combat medic and surgical technician.
