In this role, she focuses much of her efforts on leveraging social-emotional learning to affect school-wide behavioral systems. Previously, she worked as a dean at Roots Elementary from 2016 to 2019. Before her pivot to educational leadership, she found success as a teacher at Columbine Elementary School in Denver, Colorado; Lavaland Elementary School in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Cherry Drive Elementary School in Thornton, Colorado. During this time, she proudly received a $1,000 classroom grant from the assistant superintendent while working in Albuquerque — following his observation of her teaching habits, he declared her as one of the best teachers he had ever seen and noticed her leadership qualities. Ms. Lang first sought an education at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she received a degree in psychology in 2007. Following this accomplishment, she earned a master’s degree in educational leadership, with honors, at the University of New England in 2014. In accounting for her subsequent success, she largely credits her commitment to emotional constancy, which has proven vital in informing her ability to take on challenges and solve problems. In addition, she is grateful for the influence of her mother, who taught her kindness, and her father, who instilled in her a diligent work ethic. Looking toward the future, Ms. Lang aspires to continue expanding the scope of her consulting company, visit more schools, and travel the nation to help schools that are grappling with behavioral issues. Leveraging nearly 15 years of experience in the field of education, Heidi A. Lang has distinguished herself as the dean of culture at the McGlone Academy, an elementary school connected to the Denver Public Schools.
