After two decades in the corporate environment. Mr. Dawson launched Dawson Builders and founded The Build Team, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization that provides aid to homeowners with essential repairs. The Build Team was inspired by a perspective shift after Mr. Dawson’s time in corporate leadership; his focus pivoted from maximizing profit to building affordable housing. In 2020, he fully devoted himself to philanthropy, and he continues to serve on The Build Team Board today. Furthermore, he is the executive director for two Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Northern Wisconsin. Throughout his career, Mr. Dawson has been motivated by his passion for helping families with affordable housing. He has headed many mission trips to help housing-challenged regions and areas affected by natural disasters. His greatest accomplishment is seeing the smiles on children’s faces, knowing they have a safe home to play, study and invite friends. He plans to continue his efforts in the coming years, with the goal of assisting more than 1,000 individuals achieve home ownership through affordable housing. Adjacent to his primary professional endeavors, Mr. Dawson is wellregarded for his athletic spirit; he has competed in the U.S. Senior Games, triathlons, biathlons, spartan racing and The Ironman.
