500 Millennium - A Marquis Who’s Who Magazine HEALTH AND WELLNESS Dr. Martin J. Dunn is a retired, triple board-certified maxillofacial surgeon and professor who dedicated over 40 years to helping patients around the world manage complex dental conditions. He holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University and completed a residency in oral surgery at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Dunn became director of the Facial Pain and Rehabilitation Center at Braintree Hospital in 1980 and entered private practice as a surgeon at Dr. Martin Dunn Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery the same year. While he retired from clinical work in 2022, Dr. Dunn remains a development consultant at his former practice and continues a 45-year career as a professor at the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene. Well-regarded for his scholarly output as well, he has published extensively on best practices in dental care, patient management and emergency intervention. Furthermore, he is proud to have provided care to patients in Central and South America on more than 60 medical mission trips. Dr. Dunn has been recognized as a leader in his specialty with some of the field’s top honors, including three honorary doctorates and numerous humanitarian awards. He is also a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Oral Surgeons, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Dunn considers his greatest professional accomplishment to have been teaching and training dental professionals in Bolivia and Peru. He hopes to continue his legacy of medical outreach and stewardship in his retirement and credits his success to his work ethic, dedication to his field, and the support of his family and mentors.
