9 Millennium - Seventeenth Edition ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS with a Master of Science in urban planning from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in 1984. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in government, economics and politics from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Ms. Katz’s core values have helped her build urban transformation strategies for former Mayors David Dinkins and Ed Koch, as well as Robert Kiley at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Likewise, her ideals have allowed her to pivot into branding with positions as a chief marketing officer at KPMG and a division of Thomson Reuters. This bold transition arrived at a key time in Ms. Katz’s career, and as she progressed through the ranks, it turned out to be one of her best career moves, enabling her to push new and creative ideas at Omnicom agencies, including Interbrand, BBDO, and Fleishman-Hillard. Attributing much of her success to her values and upbringing, she looks forward to further expanding her brand and gaining more global recognition in the coming years. to understand their business cultures, daily operations and responsibilities, and how to leverage their points of view so branding can help add value to their businesses. Ms. Katz is particularly proud of her company’s rebranding work for the National Children’s Theatre (NCT) of South Africa, where she has operated as a board trustee since early 2024. She and Ideon notably transformed the organization from a playhouse theatre operation to a kaleidoscope of enlightenment that is now able to train future leaders of South Africa. The rebranding has shifted the NCT in new and magical ways, with Ideon introducing a new Disney partnership in 2024; in light of this partnership, the NCT will produce Lion King Jr. for the first time in Africa. Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ms. Katz maintains her African values at her core, having learned from a young age to value the importance of working with intellect and wisdom. This notion has remained a constant truth in her life and throughout her career, which started in urban strategy after she graduated
